Circle of Life

Well, you know the famous saying:

  • Before we usher in the new generation, sometime the mature must be put to rest!

Considering how many new talents have joined our team; this is their chance to excel and shine in the brave new world ahead... I hereby hand over my torch to them!

Therefore today is the last time I attend our regular team meetings. Meanwhile I leave the team in the capable and experienced hands of my remaining colleagues incl. Alpha + Kadir + Josephine + Stefanie (Drewelies) just to mention a few.

I am confident that your future is bright and exciting and full of challenging experiences!

As for me; it's time to start a new chapter of my senior life which I am looking forward to as a gift that I intend to appreciate & enjoy.

Although my last working day is officially on 16th/April/2025, until then I plan to take some holidays which I might lose otherwise.

Correct SAP response

During my retirement, I plan to focus more of my time & energy to my current Voluntary Social Work:

  1. serve community by helping the local refugees
  2. pet rescue service (not a sanctuary center)!
  3. astrophysics hobby (sharing latest scientific findings via my FaceBook group)
  4. playing the piano & travelling to visit family abroad (like Canada, Australia, Brazil)

Value of Life

Life is too short & precious:

I don't measure everything in terms of money or financial achievement via any career ladder or professional accomplishments. You can't take any of that with you at the end! Instead I consider my contribution to society.

Your legacy is what you leave behind for other people to remember you by! You will live on in the hearts and thoughts of others based on how you affected and touched them.

It's better to light a candle than to stumble in the dark!

Make every moments in your life count

Years of Service

When I joined SAP, I was already 36 years old. So before that, I had already worked in London for 18 years and changed employers (on average) every 4 years.

Why do people constantly change jobs?

The reason generally is about Professional Growth although there is no single answer that fits to everyone! Ultimetaly, we all want to increase our practical experience and gain more exposure to different business areas. For me, there was sufficient diversity inside SAP offering a variety of opportunities. Since entering SAP in 1996, I worked in many deparments including in IT, SAP Best Practices™ {aka RDS / Model Companies}, ByD even as an assistant to Gerd Oswald.
    • Like aging & growing old, the purpose of life is all about accumulating wisdom & maturity & learning new interesting topics. But what would be the point of all that if these experiences are not shared with anyone?
      • I don't only mean to pay it back to your colleagues / friends by mentoring the next generation! 😉
      • I am talking about achieving a balance in your life especially with the company of your loved ones (partner, friends & family) ...
    • So my advice here is don't focus so much on your professional career to the point where you sacrifice your personal accomplishments.
    • Consider how lucky you are if you have a partner or family to share them with.
    • Seak any memories which come once in a lifetime & treasure them!
    • Take a picture of them ...
      • I don't mean take a selfie 🤳 for Instagram!!!
    • Instead record a mental image of them here in your mind and cherish these moments.
    • Life should be full of fun.
