The Great Sept of Baelor:
The Great Sept of Baelor is a prime religious center of the Faith of the Seven and the 2nd tallest building in King's Landing after the Red Keep. Named after King Baelor I Targaryen who built it on top of Visenya's Hill, it served as the primary venue for royal weddings, funerals, and coronations before its total destruction by Cersei Lannister.
This magnificent seven-sided temple is the holiest site in the capital and is the seat of the High Septon. The High Sparrow in #GoT (season 5, episode 7) once noted that Baelor's massive monument was constructed directly over a small, underground, simple, bare-stone chapel that had existed on Visenya's Hill long before the city was even built. This priest prefers to meditate, worship & hold audience in this modest, humble & unadorned subterranean space, calling Baelor's grand, gold-adorned, marble masterpiece above it a "gilded monstrosity".
