2017 Oscars Mistake:
At the 2017 Oscars, La La Land was mistakenly announced as Best Picture instead of Moonlight due to presenters being handed the wrong envelope (Best Actress instead of Best Picture).
Banned from the Oscars:
On April 8, 2022 the Board of Governors decided to ban Will Smith for 10 years from attending any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Oscars Awards.
