- A force such as gravity or magnetism can be described as a push or a pull acting on an object with a specific mass. A massless object {e.g. a photon of light} can not exert or experience a normal force. Newton is a unit for measuring a force {not power}.
- Weight is a consequence of force {specifically that due to gravity}. Force is the product of mass and acceleration. On the surface of the Earth, gravity provides an acceleration of 9.8 meters per second each second, so the force acting on one kilogram is 1 kg × 9.8 m/s² = 9.8 Newtons.
- Torque {which is force that causes rotation} is measured in Nm. My Audi eCar has an engine which can provide a maximum torque = 545 Nm.
- Power is defined as the rate of applying a force. It is measured either in watts (W) in electrical terms or using British horsepower (hp) in mechanical engineering terms {such as motors}. One hp is defined as the amount of work that can be done by a standard horse in one second. This is equivalent to the power needed to move 550 pounds, one foot in one second. According to the International System of Units (SI):

- 1 W = 1 Nm / sec = 0.0013404825737265 hp
