Voluntary work is totally rewarding

Q) What will you do after retirement?

A) Today, I already volunteer as a social worker on 2 different fronts: helping the refugees in my local town to settle & contribute productively to society and with a pet rescue organization. When I enter full retirement, I shall devote more of my time/energy to these causes. Plus I look forward to traveling to visit my relatives abroad as well as taking care of my physical & mental health by simply relaxing at home while completing various postponed domestic projects.

Q) Why are you involved in these social services?

A) If you give love, that's what you get back! Helping others is self-therapeutic. Originally I learnt this helpful trait from my father. He was a very generous, selfless, supportive & patient husband. Now I see for myself the benefits of assisting others with whom I empathize and to whom I can gladly offer kindness in return. I can easily offer the refugees my assistance given my deep knowledge & background experience of their language & cultural. I myself was a refugee as a child, raised in the Middle East in 1970s. I lived through a devastating civil war & was then forced to relocate to a new territory. This enriched my life experience and allowed me to understand how to help & demonstrate thoughtfulness. It is the least I can do to pay back to society that we are part of.

Q) What is the origin of these abandoned animals?

The source of all unwanted puppies ia always the result of irresponsible owners who do not castrate their pets. We also rescue strayed animals because their previous family can no longer care for them emotionally or financially or offer them a home maybe due to their decease or imprisonment.
